Abby Torgerson is the 24-year-old daughter of Darren and Kim Torgerson. She was born and raised in the small southern Oregon town where the wild and scenic Rogue River splits the town in two, Grants Pass, which she calls home. Abby graduated from Grants Pass High School in 2018 and went on to get her bachelor’s degree at Southern Oregon University in 2021. She currently works as a Home Health nurse where she treats patients in the comfort of their own homes. When she is not at work or on the back of a horse, you can find Abby trail running with her dogs, crafting with her Cricut, or playing with the animals on her farm.
Unlike most rodeo queens, Abby got a late start to the horse world. She didn’t begin riding until she was 16, but never looked back. In Abby’s junior and senior years of high school, she was involved in OHSET and 4-H, and even had the opportunity to ride in college on Utah State University’s Western Equestrian team. Abby’s love for horses continues to grow and she looks forward to traveling throughout the state of Oregon with her AQHA mare, Lady.
Abby was selected as Miss Rodeo Oregon after competing in a three-day pageant held in conjunction with the Clackamas County Fair and Canby Rodeo. As the 2024 titleholder, she will travel thousands of miles across Oregon and the United States, attending and promoting PRCA rodeos, the agriculture industry, and the western way of life. Abby will also be promoting her platform ‘Farming America’ through her reign. It is Abby’s goal to bridge the gap between the public and agricultural community, while discussing common misconceptions about the industry.
In December of 2024, Abby will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete in an eight-day pageant for the coveted title of Miss Rodeo America. Abby looks forward to a year full of promoting the great state of Oregon and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
